This blog sucks.

Well, that seems to be the general consensus around here. Normally, I'd just think to myself Screw all of you and carry on with whatever, but I really don't know.

So, I obviously haven't been posting for about a fortnight now. Not that it's really anyone else's business, but I've been a little busy with my thesis. My time is normally divided between research, being online and hanging out with friends/gaming. When my research load increased, I made the decision to temporarily give up online time in favour of continuing to hang out with my friends, and that's kinda why I haven't been on lately. Anyway, I don't know why I'm bothering to explain myself.

Thing is, why I got back from my hiatus, I didn't really know if I wanted to continue this thing. Firstly, pretty much 100% of comments posted so far about the blog (as opposed to a particular post) have been negative. And this from people I don't even know. The fact that no one else can be bothered to say anything speaks volumes for itself.

Also, the main reason I even started this blog in the first place was that I normally follow tech news anyway, and figured some others might appreciate it if I summarised the current happenings. Guess I was wrong, because nobody ever comments on the tech articles anyway.

Then I come to the blog page and saw StupidBoy's tag and just got pissed. I'd like to think that's not normally like me, but in any case, it didn't help. Dave being his usual assholic self wasn't a big assist either.

I guess the main point of this post is that I've lost the reason why I bother doing this. If people want to read about tech stuff, they're sure not letting me know. And they have thousands of alternatives anyway. Sifting through the mounds of articles might take more time, but tough.

And I don't like the idea of being obligated to write on my blog just because my friends are going to be idiots whenever I decide to take a break. It's my damned blog, and I'm pretty sure I don't owe it to anyone else to write here. I don't tell anyone else how to blog, so who are you to tell me?

So I guess there it is. I might go back to posting tech news daily; I might not. I might post once in a while about stuff in general (I've started reading philosophy stuff again) when I can be arsed. And if you don't like it, fuck off somewhere else because I've stopped giving a shit. It's not like I actually get anything back to begin with.

And I guess I should give credit where it's due, so here's a big thanks to anyone who posted negative comments (without suggesting how anything might be improved). You helped remind me that I really don't have to care what you think, and to just blog the way I feel like blogging. You might still want to stay clear for a few days, though.

While I admit, what you blog about isn't my forte, I think that the way in which it is written is informative and reader-friendly. In a cyber world filled with blogs that dwell about the mundane happenings of its various authors' life, I like that you not only give fresh and well-argued perspectives but invite interaction among fellow bloggers and readers. It has certainly created some awareness about 'tech stuff' (for me at least). Everyone is entitled to their own opinions and the unfavourable feedback you have received is not necessarily an accurate representation of how other visitors (of your blog) think.
By all means, blog in your own terms and I agree that you should not in any way, feel obliged to please anybody other than yourself.
Good Luck with the blogging and with your thesis! :)

Hrmm...this definitely came as a surprise to me..

1. You DO know that a lot of us do joke around quite a bit with you including myself and 'Dave'. Hence, why the extra-sensitive feelings right now towards tags posted up? Be it a negative or positive comment, people DO use tag boards to joke around and all that and I am sure that for those who knows me well enough (including you I dare say), that sentence of mine is out of pure fun. No need for any hard feelings.

2. No one saying about your tech posts does not equate to no one reading about it or no one appreciating it being there. Hence, i should think that your assumption that 'no one bothers' is not exactly right.

3. So what if NO ONE posts up any constructive comments about your posts? Isn't it KNOWN that it is not uncommon for one to just blog out of sheer blogging and not expecting a reply from someone. Hey, even for myself, at times, I don't get a SINGLE comment for months! But do i even care whether ANYONE is reading it or not?

Anyway, that's all I've got to say for now. Definitely no hard feelings from my side... However, I do apologise for the frustrations caused.

hmm... there's the melodramatic guy I know and adore. ;)

You know I'd launch into a lecture about not caring what people think or say, but it'd be hypocritical bullshit... 'cause, let's face it, we all care what other people think about us. Even if we try not to, if someone says we suck, even if they're joking, a small part of us takes it personally.

So, go you... tell 'em off. I always wish I had that kind of moxy. I'm a wuss when it comes to telling people how I really feel. I never want to "hurt anyone's feelings". Bah! The truth is the truth. Tell it like it is.

This is your place... do what you want with it.

I read it, by the way. And I'm known to be technically deficient. :D

Rootin' for ya,

You KNOW I read and appreciate your stuff. So that gives me a special "frequent customer" privilege of insulting you whenever I feel like it... which is pretty much everytime.
